Northwest ISD winning teamGolfers Chip In for CISNT!
Thank you to Hibernia Bank and all our generous sponsors who made Golf for Grads a success on August 25th at The Doral Hotel and Golf Club. The winning team of Donna Criswell, Corky Criswell, Tim McClure, and Brandon Scott represented Northwest ISD by posting the best team score of the event. We were honored to have Sam Burke, CISNT President-Elect, host our team of Superintendents consisting of Mr. Steve Murray (Little Elm ISD), Dr. Jerry Roy (Lewisville ISD), and Mr. Keith Sockwell (Northwest ISD). Lewisville Noon RotaryLewisville Noon Rotary Partners with Communities In Schools of North Texas
Lewisville, TX, June 24, 2004 - The Lewisville Noon Rotary presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) Executive Director Gary Henderson. Left to Right: Angie Cox Rotarian and Volunteer for CISNT, Amber Hughes Rotarian and employee of Denton Area Teachers Credit Union, and Carol Kyer and Anita Nelson Rotarian and both LISD Board members. The Rotary's generous donation supported CISNT's summer program kick-off event, "Run the Ranch" where children participated in the 1K Fun Run and watched the Run the Ranch 5K competition.

Denton County DADenton County District Attorney receives special thanks from Communities In Schools of North Texas
Bruce Issacks, District Attorney for Denton County, received special thanks from Amy Uphoff, Communities In Schools of North Texas Campus Manager at Tomas Rivera Elementary on May 14, 2004. CISNT recognized the District Attorney's office in its commitment to building a mentoring relationship with the children of Rivera Elementary.

Hillwood Check CeremonyHillwood Development Donates $15,000 to Communities In Schools of North Texas

Roanoke, Texas - Hillwood Development and Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) extended their partnership in Northwest Independent School District earlier this week when Bill Walker, director of community relations for Hillwood Properties presented a check to CISNT for $15,000 at the Roanoke Elementary PTA meeting. Students Explore Career Paths at Griffin Middle School

Communities In Schools hosted Career Day at Griffin Middle School on Thursday February 26, 2004. Guest speakers from ten industries including education, technology, sports, medicine, modeling, aviation, public service, trades, sales/marketing and engineering spoke to eighth grade students about how they got into their fields, the various aspects of their professions, and the level of education that is necessary to get into their industry. Building Health HomesCommunities In Schools at Hedrick Elementary hosts "Building Healthy Homes" Health Fair

Over 200 community members and family members of Communities In Schools students attended "Building Healthy Homes" Health Fair on Thursday, January 22 from 5 to 7 pm at Hedrick Elementary School. The health fair provided health and safety information to the community and connected individuals and families with resources that create healthy homes. Attendants included the Lewisville Fire & Police Dept., Pediplace, Lewisville Hospital, Denton County Health Department, American Red Cross, South Texas Dental, Dr. Lancaster (Chiropractic), Texas State Optical, American Cancer Society, Family Tree Counseling Center, Dr. Burgett (OBGYN), and Ozarka Water.


Kungfu Stars at Seven Hills ElementaryCIS Kungfu Stars shine at Seven Hills Elementary

Having demonstrated passing grades and good behavior, 60 lucky students were selected to particpate in a specialized kungfu enrichment and character building program at Seven Hills Elementary. John Minh Nguyen, a senior Shaolin kungfu instructor at J.K. Wong Kungfu Tai Chi Academy, spends two hours a week implementing an exciting curriculum that stresses not only physical fitness but positive character traits including responsibility, respect, and hard work.

The reindeer were hiding on the roof of the school building as Santa Clause made a suprise visit to the students at Hedrick Elementary. Communities In Schools would like to thank Vista Ridge Mall for making this visit possible. We wish everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
