EDS & CISNT Announce PartnershipLewisville , TX – September 26, 2006: EDS announced its $20,000 contribution to Communities In Schools of North Texas to help underwrite CISNT’s dropout prevention program at Griffin Middle School in The Colony. Ms. Lora Thornton, EDS Global Community Affairs Director, presented the company’s donation at a meeting with Griffin Middle School students. EDS joins Lewisville ISD and the Texas Education Agency as the program’s financial supporters. CISNT began providing dropout prevention programming at Griffin Middle School in 2000.

“EDS has a long, strong corporate history of supporting educational programs and projects that help young people improve and enrich their lives,” said Lora Thornton, EDS Global Community Affairs Director. “Through its sponsorship of the EDS Education Outreach program, Technology Grants, the Jason Project and the EDS Bryon Nelson Championship, whose proceeds benefit the Salesmanship of Dallas’ educational youth and family programs, EDS strives to make a positive difference in children’s lives. EDS proudly supports CISNT and wants to help achieve its goals. ”

“We are very pleased that EDS has endorsed our drop out prevention program,” said Gary Henderson, CISNT Executive Director. “On a larger scale, we are excited about the potential benefits our collaboration will bring to North Texas’ at-risk students. We hope our community notes EDS’ commitment and understanding of the growing North Texas student population who can benefit from our services. Our hope is that other community-oriented companies will follow EDS’ lead.”

Under the direction of Griffin Principal Cynthia Williams, Griffin School staff member Letisha Drones provides direct services and mobilizes community resources to meet students’ needs that exceed the school staff’s capabilities.

An affiliate of the nation’s largest dropout prevention network, CISNT provided over 340,000 services in the past year in Denton and Wise counties.
