Greater Lewisville Kiwanis cook for CISNT Connections mentors & childrenLewisville , TX – May 9, 2007: Each Saturday morning, over 50 children participate in the Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) Connections mentoring program at Hedrick Elementary School. This past Saturday, in addition to being with the mentors they have built relationships with each week this past school year, the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club provided a special treat for the children.

Lewisville Kiwanis club members Jo Chastain and Mary Kimel were joined by fellow club members Steve Bacchus, James Chastain, Ken Himel, Ernie Isbell, Linda Isbell, Bill Johnson, and Victoria Mushatt to cook a free hot dog lunch for the children and their mentors. The free lunch provided by the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club was met with cheers.

Communities In Schools of North Texas and the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club are currently developing future partner activities that will allow club members to reach out to less fortunate children, including Mentoring and e-Mentoring CISNT students. “The work that the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club is doing for the children of our community who participate in CISNT programs is invaluable”, says Gary Henderson, CISNT Executive Director. “It still amazes me how quickly the children embrace the community members who work with us. I applaud the Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club for their work in helping us keep kids in school and prepare them for life.”

The Greater Lewisville Kiwanis Club meets at Noon each Wednesday at the Golden Corral at 251 North Stemmons Freeway. Communities In Schools of North Texas is a 501(c)3 non profit organization affiliated with the nations largest dropout prevention network.
