PLANO, Texas – EDS today announced that the EDS Foundation has approved a $30,000 grant to Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) to further its mission in providing direct services in 21 public schools in Denton and Wise counties. The Lewisville-based organization serves 2,100 children and youth who are victims of poverty that put them at risk for academic failure.

“We are thankful that the EDS Foundation has recognized the importance of the services we provide so that students improve in academics, school attendance and behavior so that they will be promoted to the next grade on time and remain in school,” said Gary Henderson, executive director of CISNT. “With our program services experiencing exponential growth each year, the support of companies like EDS is crucial to CISNT.”

The EDS Foundation was created to support EDS' philanthropic efforts in communities where employees volunteer and work around the world. Since its inception in 2000, the EDS Foundation has donated more than $4.5 million to 93 nonprofit organizations.

“Our board of directors was pleased to provide a grant to the Communities In Schools of North Texas and seven other worthy organizations during its August meeting,” said Diane Spradlin, executive director of the EDS Foundation. “We are delighted to add CISNT to the long list of nonprofit organizations we support, as they represent a cause that EDS employees are passionate about and provide countless volunteer hours.”

The EDS Foundation supports nonprofit organizations involved in education, health and human services and arts and culture. The majority of foundation funds will be directed to these organizations in support of the productive use of technology in programs and processes. The remainder of the funding will be directed to general program support. All programs funded by the Foundation must have a current EDS employee volunteer partnership.
