The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas is to provide and coordinate community based solutions that equip at-risk students to overcome barriers, succeed in school and prepare for life.

Communities In Schools of North Texas program Reopens at Chisholm Trail Middle School

Lewisville, TX – October 19, 2008:

United Way of Wise County has made possible the reopening of Communities In Schools of North Texas’ (CISNT) dropout prevention program in Northwest ISD at Chisholm Trail Middle School. The CISNT program was closed due to funding issues at the 14 year old non-profit organization earlier this year. The CISNT program returned to the Rhome school earlier this month.

“We are very grateful to the United Way of Wise County for intervening to keep this critical community program in place for students at-risk of dropping out of school. United Way of Wise County’s emergency financial support has allowed CISNT and our volunteers to continue to serve students and their families,” said CISNT CEO Gary Henderson.

CISNT programs benefitting students at-risk of dropping out of school, such as mentoring, help remove obstacles and help to meet critical resource gaps that the students may face. CISNT programs are available free of charge to students. Over 11,000 CISNT volunteers donated more than 14,000 hours this past year helping CISNT staff serve and support at-risk students.

CISNT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves Denton and Wise counties. To learn more about Communities In Schools of North Texas visit www.CISNT.org or call (972) 436-6377.
